On Friday, February 28, our very own 10th grader Morgan Robertson won first place in the inaugural “One Philly Black History Oratorical Showcase” hosted by the Mayor’s office at City Hall.
Morgan delivered a powerful and passionate recitation of Sojourner Truth’s iconic speech “Ain’t I A Woman,” captivating the audience and judges alike. As her teacher in African American history, I had the honor of attending the event as Carver’s representative and witnessing Morgan’s remarkable performance. Seeing students like Morgan showcase their talents and connect with historical voices reminds me of the profound impact education can have.
