In honor of Raquel’s military service and Women’s History Month, Raquel has been selected to be honored at the Pennsylvania Commission for Women’s Female Veterans Day celebration, which will be held at the Pennsylvania State Museum in Harrisburg. Governor Tom Wolf and First Lady Frances Wolf will host the event on March 31, 2022 from 1 :00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at a ceremony and reception hosted by the Governor, First Lady, and the Pennsylvania Commission for Women.

Raquel Stewart (PREWITT) has lived a life of service to community and country. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Raquel enlisted in the U.S Army Reserves in DEC 1986. She graduated from the High School of Engineering and Sciences in 1987. She then completed her Army Basic training at Fort McClellan, in Alabama, then went directly to Fort Sam Houston for AIT (Advanced Individual Training), where she completed the 76 Juliette Course for Medical Supply Specialist..

After military training, Raquel attended Temple University until she was ordered to Active Duty for Operation Desert Storm. She was deployed to Pirmasens, Germany, where she served in Logistics for Quality Control of medical supplies, until she was released from active duty status in May of 1991. She fulfilled her 8 year Military commitment and she was honorably discharged in DEC of 1994. At the time of discharge she received the Outstanding Service Women’s award from her Reserve Unit, the 324th Medical Logistics Battalion..

Following her honorable discharge, Raquel received her RN Nursing Degree at the Abington Hospital School of Nursing in Abington, PA, and she received the Dorothy Hulsizer Award for Clinical Excellence. Upon graduation, as an RN, she worked at the Southeastern Pennsylvania Veteran’s Nursing Home, serving our VETS in Spring City, PA. Then for 2 decades, she worked as RN with Genesis Healthcare where she would ultimately reach title of Assistant Director of Nursing. NOW, her current role, is the Community Liaison for KeystoneCare HomeCare, palliative and Hospice Care Service at The Einstein Medical Center of Philadelphia, which services Philadelphia and Montgomery Counties.
