The COVID-19 pandemic has taken a toll on school communities and their abilities to celebrate post secondary opportunities and success. I’m proud to share that Carver High School of Engineering and Science has found ways around that!! Carver HSES community invites SDP and community leaders to join us for our  Annual Carver School-wide College Day on December 17, 2021!!! Carver HSES has partnered with a clothing company (Snipes USA) to design an innovative college experience for Carver HSES students. This includes an Interactive College Museum, a virtual college scavenger hunt, and a session with over 40 Carver alumni students who currently attend college. In addition,

Snipes will be provided college day swag, along with special performances, and over $20,000 in scholarships and prizes. Students in grades 7th-11th were invited to participate in a poster challenge where they design a poster of their favorite college and add an inspirational quote. 10 winners from each grade will earn $50 gift cards! 12th grade students were given an essay challenge and asked to describe how they will take what they’ve learned from Carver HSES and make an impact in their colleges and communities!!! Ten essay winners will earn brand new laptops and the top 2 essays winners will earn $5,000 scholarships on the spot!!!

In addition, students will have the opportunity to hear from successful career professionals who will inspire and discuss how students can navigate through college during a pandemic. Inspirational speakers include Dr. Paris Butler (Penn Medicine physician), James Wright (Director of Community, Economic, and Real Estate for the CDC), Dr. Chizea (Vascular Surgeon at Crozer Medical Center) and Elaine Johnson (Founder/Executive Director of Latinas and Motion).
