Favorite subject in school?

Bryson loves classes and subjects because of his great teachers. In particular, he enjoys history and how energetic Mr. Milton and Ms. Moore-Almond are; he also really enjoyed learning about African-American history and the Civil Rights Era. Bryson also loves gym with Mr. Pitzner.

Something you like about Carver?

The teachers, how accepting everyone is of each other, and nerdy kids, because Bryson self-identifies as a nerd!

Describe your summer experience.

Ms. Stephanie connected Bryson to the Aviation Institute of Maintenance; he got a great week long experience through them near the Northeast Philadelphia airport. Bryson learned about safety wiring, how to start an engine for a small plane, and smelting. He also gained networking experience, meeting a diverse group of middle and high school students of many different cultural backgrounds. Bryson made plenty of friends and learned a great deal about relationship building!

Why do you think it’s important to study STEM?

“It’s challenging, and not enough young people are going into the field… Less than 3% of pilots are African-American.”

Things you enjoy doing in your free time?

Video games, photography, cooking

Bacon egg and cheese is his breakfast food.
