We are proud to announce that Dr. Darryl Johnson Jr., principal of Carver High School for Engineering and Science, has been named one of seven recipients of the 2026 Lindback Award for Distinguished Principals. The award recognizes School District of Philadelphia principals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and made significant humanitarian contributions to their school communities.

Now in his sixth year as principal, Dr. Johnson credits the entire Carver community for embracing a shared vision of preparing students for college, careers and leadership. The honor included a $20,000 award for the school, which Dr. Johnson plans to use to upgrade aging computers in Carver’s computer labs, giving students more reliable technology for assignments and projects.

This well-deserved recognition reflects Dr. Johnson’s dedication to Carver’s students, staff and families. Please join us in congratulating him on this outstanding achievement and celebrating the positive work taking place throughout our school community.
