In September, Carver students were hosted by Copernicus HS#1 in Toruń, Poland for a student exchange and to participate in a Model United Nations conference. Toruń, a sister city of Philadelphia, warmly welcomed Aliviah Allison (12th), Selinam Asuo (12th), Zarina Cotto (10th), Angela Grijalva (12th), Rika Iijima (11th), Mia Lin (11th), Gabriel Simpson (11th), Moriah Smith (11th), and Jonah Staples (11th) along with chaperones William Otto (Computer Science) and Ian Doreian (English) for a week of learning in their medieval city. With preparation and support from the World Affairs Council, our students researched global politics and presented speeches at the 9th annual ToMUN conference. Our hosts graciously shared the food, family traditions, and fun of Poland: gingerbread museums, castle walls, and top-tier perogies! We look forward to hosting our friends from Toruń this April and returning to ToMUN in 2025.
