Last Saturday, 2/1/20, 3 young ladies from the Carver middle school, Payton Drumwright (7th grade), Ava Jackson (8th grade) and Jaylnn Cage (7th grade) participated in the 46th Annual Colgate Womens games for track and field, which is the the largest amateur competition in the Nation for young ladies in elementary, middle and high shool. The track and field competition was held in Brooklyn, New York and offers young ladies an opportunity to win scholarship money for college.
Typically, all three of the young ladies run for a track club and each one is very accustomed to competing and winning on a national level. However, this track meet was quite different, as it allowed them to run run in representation of their school. Each one of the following students placed in the top 5 of out of the competition!
–Payton Drumwright finished 3rd place in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:00 minutes., she earned a $250.00 scholarship grant towards college.
–Jaylnn Cage finished 4th place in the 55m hurdles with a time of 9:00 seconds.
–Ava Jackson finished 4th place in the Shot put with a throw of 8.54 feet
