Chess players from all over the region converged on Carver Engineering and Science to play chess on Saturday, November 3rd. The Carver Chess Team won first place overall. Josiah Findley, Heng Xin-Wang and Nia Williams all won their sections. There will be another chess tournament at Carver on Saturday, December 2nd.
Eleven high school students completed a five-day canoeing expedition with the Philadelphia Outward Bound School. They canoed over thirty miles, set up camp at five sites, and learned how to survive and thrive in the wilderness. They formed a close crew and had a great time!

Kelly Garcia, Ruya Erkut and Kimani Manning were selected to perform with the All-City Band at the Kimmel Center, home of the Philadelphia Orchestra. With over 350 of the best high students auditioning, only 10% of them were selected. They put hundreds of hours on their instruments, which culminated in an amazing concert on Thursday, March 15.
